People can learn about the microcosm of Watson’s Bay which is the oldest fishing village in Australia.

Watson’s Bay is historically important. On January 21, 1788, Governor Arthur Phillip first landed at Camp Cove when he entered Port Jackson in search of the right location to established the British Colony; this was to have profound and lasting effect on all Aboriginal people across the entire continent.

Most importantly, residents, the community and visitors can learn the forgotten history of the La Perouse Coastal Aboriginals that has long been ignored in colonial and modern narratives. The La Perouse have maintained their strong bond with the coast and it resources for over 4,000 years.

Gap Park can continue to bring new life and enhancements to the community including improved revenue potential to the neighbourhood while helping to preserve the character of the local area.
